The Department of Energy began a series of Interactive Sessions in the Administrative Regions of Guyana, in March 2019 designed to assist stakeholders with an understanding and appreciation of the oil and gas sector in Guyana. Placing emphasis on the mandate of the Department of Energy, the sessions were aimed at sensitizing the population on the opportunities that are available in the sector and to discuss the kind of preparation required to be able to meaningfully participate. Information on the benefits streams (direct and indirect) formed a central aspect of the presentations. In an effort to reach the youth population, some of the sessions were held in collaboration with the Council for Technical Vocational Education and Training as well as the Department of Social Cohesion, Culture Youth and Sport.

The Interactive sessions  targeted Members of Regional Democratic Councils (RDCs), Community Development Councils(CDCs), Neighbourhood Democratic Councils(NDCs), sporting and cultural groups, youth groups, Faith Based Organizations, political parties, Chambers of Commerce and other members of the business community. Students pursuing technical and vocational education, secondary school students and teachers were also invited to participate.

The Department was able to undertake sessions in seven (7) of the ten (10) Administrative Regions. Outside of information dissemination, one outcome of the interactive sessions is followup by stakeholder groups with C-TVET in order to acquire requisite knowledge and skills to increase their levels of productivity
