InFab to provide fabrication services for Prosperity FPSO

(DPI) For the first time, a local company will be offering fabrication services for a Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessel. Industrial Fabrication Incorporated (InFab), will be providing the services for the vessel, which is being constructed to produce oil offshore Guyana in the Payara Field.

On Tuesday SBM Offshore Guyana hosted a Steel Strike Ceremony for the Prosperity FPSO to mark the occasion at the company’s East Coast Demerara location.

In his message, which was read by the Mistress of Ceremony, Minister of Natural Resources, Hon. Vickram Bharrat, extended congratulations to the company on this achievement. He said this is in keeping with the Government’s local content policy, which is still open to stakeholders’ consultations.

“Our Government remains committed to ensuring all Guyanese companies are adequately represented and benefit at all levels of the goods and services supply chain within the oil and gas sector. I would like to urge all our local companies to recommit their efforts to improve the quality and standards of their products and services within the sector to build capacity among our local companies.”

The Natural Resources Minister emphasised the Government’s commitment to incentivising the private sector.  This, he says, would assist in capacity building and the creation of employment opportunities to the benefit of all Guyanese.

Managing Director of InFab, Mr. Jerry ‘Max’ Gouveia said the event was a milestone. He says it reflects the hard work the company has put in over the past 18 years and expressed confidence that quality service will be delivered.

SBM Offshore General Manager, Mr. Francesco Prazzo, said this is another example of Guyanese suppliers seizing opportunities in the country’s expanding oil and gas sector.

InFab will be providing Cable Tray Support Fabrication Services, and Lighting and Control Station Fixtures Fabrication works for the Prosperity FPSO.
