Recruitment and institutional strengthening is vital to the proper management of Guyana’s petroleum sector
Director, Department of Energy, Dr. Mark Bynoe, today, said that
recruitment and institutional strengthening is vital to the proper
management of Guyana’s petroleum sector.
The Department of Public Service, he said, is well positioned to take the lead in this regard.
Dr. Bynoe made these statements while addressing senior management
staff at an oil and gas interactive session, held at the Scholarships
Division, Vlissengen Road and Durban St, Georgetown. The hosting of the
session was a collaborative effort between the two Departments.
He
urged the senior staff to prepare for the opportunities that lie ahead
and encouraged them to discharge their functions in a professional
manner.
“We must have the ethos that says we will do the best we can,
for as long as we can, while we can. We have to adopt a new attitude
with the way we deal with our respective responsibilities. We are public
servants…our first obligation is to serve the people of Guyana,” he
said.
He also debunked a common misconception that the Department is responsible for the disbursement of oil revenues.
The
Department of Energy will be hosting its 2nd Annual Guyana
International Petroleum Business Summit & Exhibition (GIPEX) from
November 20th and 22nd.
