This document sets out the National Energy Policy of Guyana. It updatesthe 1994 National Energy Policy of Guyana, while reflecting current national, regional and international commitments made by the Government of Guyana and its agencies up until 2016. The document addresses continuing concerns related to the dependence on imported fossil fuels, the need to address the efficiency and sustainability of energy supply and demand, and the need to address climate change issues plus the recent discovery of offshore petroleum reserves in 2014
